CADREB Launches REALTORSCare® Partnership with Chilliwack Bowls of Hope

The Chilliwack and District Real Estate Board (CADREB) is proud to announce a new REALTORSCare® community initiative in partnership with Chilliwack Bowls of Hope, an organization dedicated to supporting children and families facing food insecurity in our community.

As the first volunteer activity under this new initiative, 10 CADREB REALTOR® volunteers helped deliver 333 Summer Starfish Pack hampers on June 17th to schools throughout Chilliwack. These hampers are designed to help bridge the summer hunger gap for students who receive Starfish Packs during the school year but may not have access to the same support when school is out.

According to Chilliwack Bowls of Hope, the Starfish Pack Program provides weekend hunger relief for students through a healthy assortment of meals and snacks packed in a convenient take-home package. The program supports approximately 300 students throughout the school year and aims to promote a healthier and more food-secure community.

The Summer Starfish Pack hampers extend that support beyond the classroom, helping provide families with additional food resources during the summer months when school-based programs are unavailable.

The volunteer delivery effort marks the beginning of what CADREB hopes will be a long-term partnership with Chilliwack Bowls of Hope through the REALTORSCare® program.

Throughout the summer, CADREB volunteers will also be lending a hand at the Bowls of Hope Community Roots Garden & Farm. According to Chilliwack Bowls of Hope, the farm plays an important role in addressing food insecurity by growing fresh produce for the organization’s Feed the Children school lunch program and supporting other local organizations working to address food insecurity.

Chilliwack Bowls of Hope notes that the Community Roots Garden & Farm brings community members together to plant, care for, and harvest crops, helping strengthen local connections while increasing access to nutritious food. The Wolfe Road garden is now in its fourth season and continues to contribute to food security efforts throughout the community.

This fall, CADREB volunteers will continue their involvement by assisting with the weekly delivery of Starfish Packs, helping ensure students continue to receive vital food support throughout the school year.
